 Tiwanaku (half day)

2 hour drive near Lake Titikaka, we visit the immense palaces and temples of the ancient culture of Tiwanaku that existed between 1500 b.C. until 1200 a.C. The constructions of Kalasasaya, Half Subterranean Temple, Akapana and Puma Punku, reveal the splendour of the imperial Tiwanaku in Andean America. The Inka revered Tiwanaku as western civilization does the Greeks and the Romans if you compare the fine stone work here to what you see in most Cusco and Macchu Picchu; you will know why. The engravings on the stones are still impossible to decipher. After midday we return to La Paz.
